From First Taste to Fresh Perspective: A Red Stick Farmers Market Experience

There’s something special about meeting people where curiosity meets fresh food—and that’s exactly what happened during a recent visit from @BayouShugaGarden at the Red Stick Farmers Market.

In her reel, she captured a genuine, first-time experience with microgreens that reflects what we see so often at Chris & Camille’s Family Farm: discovery, education, and a little bit of surprise.

Like many market visitors, she came with questions—What are microgreens? How do you use them? Are they really worth it? What stood out immediately was her reaction to the pricing. There’s a common misconception that nutrient-dense, specialty crops like microgreens come at a premium, but she was pleasantly surprised to find that fresh, locally grown microgreens can be both accessible and affordable.

After learning more about how microgreens are grown and their nutritional benefits, she decided to try two of our most popular varieties: broccoli and radish microgreens.

Her reaction says it all.

The radish microgreens delivered a bold, peppery flavor that caught her off guard—in the best way. That signature bite is something chefs and home cooks love, adding depth and character to everything from salads to sandwiches. On the other hand, the broccoli microgreens offered a more subtle, mellow taste, providing balance and versatility for everyday meals.

It’s a perfect example of how microgreens can meet different flavor preferences while still delivering powerful nutrition.

Moments like these are why we do what we do. It’s not just about growing food—it’s about changing how people experience it. Every conversation at the market is an opportunity to connect, educate, and introduce something new.

We’re grateful to @BayouShugaGarden for sharing her experience and helping more people see that fresh, flavorful, and functional food doesn’t have to be complicated—or expensive.

If you haven’t experienced microgreens yet, the Red Stick Farmers Market is a great place to start. Come by, ask questions, taste the difference, and find your favorite.
